It may be a while if that ever becomes possible. There are a lot of issues that you're not thinking about. That item is just bata. and you wouldn't get support for it in case something happened to the mac in the first place.

Hi,

That's really a non-issue because Jaws wouldn't be providing any screen reading capability inside the Mac operating system environment. And for those who don't know, Macs use the OS10 operating system. But back to my point, Jaws would only work inside the Windows XP environment. In order to use OS10 applications, you'd still have to boot up in OS10 and use the VoiceOver screen reader. Therefore, Apple would still need to support VoiceOver and update it in order to provide screen reading capability for OS10 applications. Besides VoiceOver, there are no other screen readers for the Mac and it doesn't appear that Freedom Scientific will be supporting the Mac anytime soon.

From an accessability standpoint I wonder how this affect the further
development of Voiceover? Voiceover has promise and I hope this isn't a
route for Apple to provide accesssability instead.

So long as you understand that you are not going to be able to run Mac
software with your Jaws. I suppose one wrinkle might be the video display
hardware. Otherwise I expect that XP is XP.

Hi,

The best comparison I can make about going from a standard PC to a Mac is
this. I liken it to going from a Honda Accord to a BMW. Both cars are
quality cars and run very nicely. Macs just have a nicer form factor.
The look and feel of a Mac is terrific. Honestly though, I have no
earthly idea how to use the Mac operating system but I would like to
learn. And I would never have considered investing money in a Mac if it
wasn't possible to use my Windows software on a Mac machine. And I'll
probably still not consider getting a Mac/Intel system if Jaws doesn't
work on it. People who own Macs love them and always have good things to
say about them.

HI,

What would be the advantage of running windows xp on a Mac if you aren't
using the Mac software? I'm just curious why anyone would want to waste
their money that way.

Hi All,

Woohoo! Have you all heard the news? Apple has released what I believe
is
a software update to OSX that allows you to install Windows XP on a Mac
that

uses the new Intel processors. The software update is called boot Camp.
Which begs the question, how well will Jaws run on one of these systems?
I'm dying to find out! I've always wanted a Mac and if Jaws will work on
one of these systems, I am so buying myself a Mac. Does anyone out there
have or know anyone that has one of these Mac/Intel systems? Has Freedom
Scientific commented on this as far as anyone knows? Talk to you later.
