Daniel,
Yes, you are correct. If you hit Insert +0 while in outlook express, The script manager loads and it automatically loads the outlook express 5-6.jss file. But at that point, hit control O to bring up the open dialog box.
Then shift tab and you should be in a list of files.
Hit the letter A until you hear, ad-aware.jss, then hit enter.
Now you will have the ad-aware.jss file open.
Just hit control S, and you should hear, compile complete.
Now hit alt f4 to exit out of the script manager.
Your done with the recompiling of the scripts!
Hope this is more clear!
Chris Chaffin

Chris,
Thanks, but are you leaving out something? Like that I have to launch
AdAware, whether the old one or the new one, prior to bringing up the script
manager? Because now I do have the new scripts installed in the proper
folder, which the installer seems to have overwiritten the older script
files with, though without telling me. Which is fine, except now I must
install the new version to be able to go on using AdAware.

but if I just follow your directions while I'm here in Outlook Express, what
I get isn't a list of files, but a window full of what I assume is an actual
script, which says it's for Outlook Express 7, written by Freedom
Scientific. Do you see what I mean? So please explain whatever I'm not
understanding.
Thanks.

Hi Daniel,
You do not have to install the new version before recompiling the scripts.
You can download the new version of ad-aware from the supplied direct link:
http://www.blind-corners.com/aawsepersonal106.exe

To recompile the scripts:
After the scripts have been installed
Hit Insert + 0 to open the script manager
Hit control O for the open dialog box
Shift tab to the list of files
Hit the letter A until you hear, Ad-aware.jss, then hit enter
Once this file is open, hit control S
You should hear, compile complete
Hit alt f4 to exit the script manager
Your scripts should be ready to go!
Sometimes I have had to restart Jaws for new scripts to work, but this is
not always necessary. I usually restart Jaws just to make sure.
Hope this helps,
Chris Chaffin

One and only one question, so far, and a really basic question at that:

I'm not very experienced at recompiling scripts. Last time I needed to do
it, I was given several ways to do it and none of them actually worked for
me, for some reason.

Now I need to do this again, because I'm using Jaws 6.0 and the installer
told me to.

So, should I first download and install the new version of AdAware? I can
do this by clicking Web Update in SE 1.05, I think it is, and saying yes
when it asks me if I want to upgrade.

Then how do I compile or recompile the scripts so I can get started again?

Thanks. If I have this backward, please explain the steps.
.

Hello everyone,
It's my pleasure to announce that the full version of AdAware Scripts 1.0
is
ready for download. These are free scripts for anyone who would like them.
My thanks go to all those who participated in the beta tests, it was
enjoyable working with you and I feel that the scripts are better because
of
your feedback. The scripts are available on the Accessible Programs web
site, and if Debbie begins to update her page, I'll later post them on
jfwlite as well. To download the scripts, go to:

http://www.AccessiblePrograms.com
I'll be here till Friday evening to answer any questions or if you need
assistance, then I'll be gone on vacation.
Hope you enjoy.
Dean Schmidt
