a passing thought,
look in control panel,
under accessibility,
control tab to display,
then tab to cursor blink rate and cursor width
make sure they are set to zero
by pressing home,
apply the changes,then ok
see if that makes a difference.

Subject: Unable to edit email

I have just joined this list and would like to find help with a very vexing
problem. I have used JAWS for about three years. We recently upgraded to
Windows XP and installed JAWS 5.0. We use Outlook Express for email. I
have no problem reading email messages.
However, when I compose a message and try to edit it, here is what happens.
If I read my message straight through without stopping, everything is fine.
But I can't read my message by line, word or character in order to edit out
mistakes. When I do this, Jaws will leave out letters, read wrong letters
and keep repeating the same letter over and over until I down arrow. This
despite the fact that the message is fine on the screen. When I backspace
over a letter, I don't hear the letter being deleted, just the word space.
This does not happen with a word document, only in Outlook Express and only
in the message line, not the subject line or the to line. I have checked
all of the relevant Windows XP settings. s. I have also removed and
re-installed JAWS without solving the problem. Is this an Outlook Express
issue? Any suggestions? John Weidlich
