Hi guys: Well, there's good news and bad news. I followed your instructions and went to the jaws configuration manager, then to the Set options and finally to the Misc page. There I found the Ignore Flash setting and checked it. After saving and exiting I tried the UTube clip and it malfunctioned as usual. I went back to the configuration manager and found the Ignore Flash still checked. So I tried the Ctrl-Insert-v for the Personalized settings for Dialog Box page and and found that Flash movie was set to ON-not what I wanted. So it appears I have conflicting settings. Any ideas? Hi,
It's important to remember that many verbosity changes that you make are temporary "on-the-fly" changes that apply only while you're in an application window. When you leave the window and come back, the setting reverts to its original state.

If you want to make the change permanent, do it in configuration manager. In this case, go into configuration manager with insert+6 on the number row, not the numeric pad. Then open the Set Options menu with alt+s. Arrow down to HTML options and press enter. This is a multi-page dialog box. Do a shift+ctrl+tab to get into the Misc page. The option for turning off flash should be in there. Set it to Off and press Enter. Finally, press ctrl+s to save the modified configuration, then leave configuration manager with alt+f4. That oughta do it. If you want to reverse the change later, go back into configuration manager as previously described and turn flash back on.

Hope this helps.

Tom

Ray: I followed your suggestion and found the option in the list. I changed the Flash movie choice to off. However, I can't seem to get the change to be retained after exiting the dialog box. How can I make the change permanent. I tried both the Close button and the Execute button but neither seem to work. Help would be appreciated. I feel so stupid since this seems so simple. Kathye

Alex: Thanks for your response. I tried your first solution but after
pressing Insert-v I don't find the Flash movies selection in the list.
Unfortunately I must use 7.1 at this time. so solution two is not an option for me. Any idea why there is no Flash movie option in my Verbosity list?

Hi.

I have two solutions that will absolutely, positively, work foryou.

1. If you must use 7.1, go into the verbosity options (insert+v) and
arrow down to flash movies and hit space bar to turn them off. Jaws
will then know not to try and read the counter in the flash movie
frame telling you the elapsed time of the youtube video you are
watching and you can listen to it without those annoying pauses while
it tries to keep up.

2. Upgrade. I have both Jaws 7 and Jaws 9 installed on my pc because
my online college courses' website doesn't work properly with any
later versions of Jaws for some reason. When you want to go on
youtube, switch to the higher version and then switch back to 7 for
whatever reason you're still running it in the first place.

Have a good evening,

Alex

to
move the focus away from the video window, which is quite irritating,
especially if you want to read what's on the youtube page or control the
playing. It seems that JAWS is at least partially responsible for this
problem, which at first I thought was linked with my internet connection
as
it seemed almost like the stream was buffering.

I have the same problem and I'll be very interested in the answer. I've
had it with JAWS 5 and JAWS 10. My ISP is Comcast.

I am running JAWS 7.1 with Windows XP with internet access
through
Verizon FIOS. When I try to play a UTube video I get about 2 seconds
of
sound followed by two seconds of silence. This repeats til the end of
the
video. If I try it without JAWS it plays fine. Can anyone offer some
help? Kathye
