Trying to sign up with gmail

As the subject says I'm trying to sign up for gmail, but after I fill in all
the required info and click the button to sign up it seems to take me back to
the previous page where I have all the info I had put in. I closed out the
page, went back to it and tried to sign in, but it said that the user name or
password was incorrect. Is there something that I'm missing or do you need
sighted help to establish an account? Thank you.
