Yes, I too think it's very handy, but as you say, only for a
collaborative effort.
we've got a legal staff where I work who use this when they're changing
some official document, and when they need a record of the changes, they
use something called "type-and-strike" (it goes by other names).
anyway, it's a format where official changes are denoted by
strike-through of deleted text, and underlining of added text.
I've written some VBA macros for them which convert Word tracked changes
into legal type-and-strike format, and I'd be glad to send anyone
needing this the VBA macros. you will need to be familiar with
installing and running Word VBA macros I think.
