I've been editing for years. I think I'll stick to regular Microsoft Word without any embellishments. At least this way, when I mess up, I have to take all the credit myself. Thanks, Judith ----- Original Message ----- From: "Chip Orange" <Corange@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

You first have to enable it for the document being edited by going to
the tools menu and selecting the "tracked changes" choice.

this not only turns it on for this document, but it splits your screen
into an upper and lower pane; the lower pane is the "reviewing" pane,
showing all the changes in the document. usually those using a screen
reader should turn off this pane, as it's too easy to have the screen
reader start reading from it. to turn it off you have to use the
tracked changes toolbar, find the "show" dropdown list, and turn off the
reviewing pane which is checked on this menu.

now you need to read about it so you can decide which document view you
want to work in; you then use the same "show" menu from the tracked
changes toolbar to set your view of the document (not the same thing at
all as the Word document view).

you'll need to do some reading from the jaws word help topic as well as
a book on advanced word features to be able to use this; it's possible,
just not easy unless you know what you're doing.

perhaps an advanced word tutorial from some place like access technology
institute would be very useful here, since the word books are not likely
to cover any of the keyboard ways of doing things; and certainly not how
to configure word to best use a screen reader.

Hello:

Has anyone used the track changes feature of ms word
2003 with jaws, and if so, does it work well? My wife
requires it to do some editing, so we are looking for any
tips for using it. Thanks for any assistance.
