Total Recorder and Jaws

Hello. Does anyone here use Total Recorder with Jaws?
I have a question. I have an mp3 file which I wish to edit with total
recorder. If I open the mp3 file, then navigate to the point where I wish to
edit the file, then open the tools menu, then open the split current file
submenu, the delete before current position button is always unavailable. Why
is this, and how do I make this button available so that I can delete
everything before the current position?
