Okay,

I went to the link below and boned up on the instructions. But what I didn't
learn even there was this: I don't understand what "running as a service"
means,, I'm afraid. I thought it was just a fancy way to say "loads
automatically on startup," and I thought that was simply a convenience
feature to save you the trouble of having to launch Jaws after waiting until
you're sure Windows has properly booted up. So, I'll bet there's something
about running an application as a service that I am completely ignorant of.
Now that I've pinned down where I'm lacking knowledge, will someone please
explain?

Thanks.
