I have that trouble sometimes, more at work than here and it seems it might be related to the network but I am not sure. It is a Jaws related issue in that it is not obvious in Jaws just what programme is always doing this, sometimes I know it is Windows Explorer which I never use but my part-time assistant I think uses a lot. Other times I don't know what is doing it. On this machine at home Win98 it often hangs a very long time before closing down. At work there is a Claritel Gateway application which runs the I P telephone which, if not closed first will hand the machine, possibly for ever but certainly over a week-end. There is probably something running, maybe a connection thread to AOL which is not releasing control. I'm using Windows 98 SE. However, It would seem that I am experienceing a problem that I've never had before. This happens when I get off AOL (America Online) I go to start, shutdown, and make sure my focus is on the shut down radio button. However, after pressing enter, My machine sitts for about 20 seconds or so, then I reseev the folowing error message. "Dialog. This program is not responding. It may be busy, waighting for a responss from you, or it may have stopt running. To close this program ameidentaly, click end task. You will loos any unsaved information in this program." When I click end task, my system powers off, however this dialog shouldn't even be showing up on my system in the first place. Must be the program that tells Windows to shut down, because JAWS still functions enough for me to end task. However, I am concerned as to what's up. If anyone has ever encountered problems asociated with shuttingdown Windows, e-mail me off list, as this topic is getting off focus. keithint38@xxxxxxx Note: If you want to chat with me, MSN Messenger contact: keithint38@xxxxxxxxxxx That's K e i t h i n t 38 @ h o t m a i l . com Regards, Keith.
