Speech rate problem with 8.0.423

Hi all,

I'm using Windows XP with JAWS 8.0.423U.  When I try to change the speed in 
global operation, the changes seem to register when I'm in the menu; when I hit 
the OK button and leave the menu, it reverts to the slower rate.  Any ideas?
