I very often just empty my temp folder completely. Always have. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jerry Berrier" <jerry.berrier@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, March 08, 2005 7:31 AM Subject: Solved RE: Problem Installing JAWS 6.0 Well, I chose a different route, and it worked. I downloaded the ILM version of Jaws 6.0 from the website, ran it, and installed with no = problem at all. Therefore there has to be some difference between the downloaded program = and the program on CD. Remember, yesterday I copied the entire CD to my = hard drive, then renamed the setup.exe file to something else before running = it, and it still crashed. However, this discussion of the temp directory is interesting. In my c:\windows\temp directory, there are many folders and files, 9.8MB of = them to be exact. I've often wondered whether it is okay to delete them all. I've recently done a disk cleanup, and checked the box for temporary = files. it did not delete most of the files and folders in the windows\temp directory. I'm very reluctant to risk just trashing the entire folder. In fact, I had JFW 6.0 running previously; installed it from a download =3D = from the web with no problem. I uninstalled it before trying to install from = =3D CD. I also tried using the Run command to run setup.exe. Same result. No, I'm not ready to do a system restore. That will be my absolute last resort. Way too drastic to try before even getting feedback from FS. Have you any other =3D = program CD's you could try, to see if you get the same result when you try installing other programs? Also, the suggestion offered earlier to =3D = delete the setup.exe files is but a temporary mesure to tide you over, so you = =3D could do a Find Files & Folders and delete them; or, better, if you knew where =3D the troublesome modem driver is located, delete it so. Other = things you =3D could try: Instead of letting the JAWS installation CD auto-run, as you are inserting the CD press and hold down the left shift key while the CD-ROM drive spins up and down; release it after 20 seconds or so. Then open Windows Explorer and go down to the CD drive and, there, get into JAWS6 = =3D then into the Setup Folder: there, enter the setup.exe file and try =3D installing JAWS that way. Same result? System Restore, as I suggested earlier. =3D If System Restore can't run? Then perhaps it's time to = uninstall the last program, etc., you installed before the trouble first = manifested. ----- Original Message -----=3D20 From: "Jerry Berrier" <jerry.berrier@xxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, March 07, 2005 9:19 PM Subject: RE: Problem Installing JAWS 6.0 Actually none of the setup files are in my temp directory.
