From my experience, no not really that sluggish. They can't catch up with my typing. Whena I go really fast. But they work great for reading weather. Dictionary isn't quite as good as eloquence. But muchclearer and they will work in conjunction with realplayer. I'm using a 1.6GHZ pentiumM processor. Others may have different experiences.

I haven't received my CDs yet, so I don't have the voices. don't ask; I've been on the phone with FS three times about this, and their file shows they've resent the package twice by now, with nothing ever having arrived, at least not yet. But anyway, I remember hearing that FS promotes these new voices as being agreeable to use when you're performing a Say All in a long text document, rather than when you're navigating a Web page or doing editing or anything else that requires a lot of operations and keystrokes. I assume everyone else heard that, too. No? They aren't recommending it for use as our default voice to simply get rid of Eloquence. God knows, Reed may have his faults, but at least he's got pretty good vocal reflexes for doing most of the work we do on the computer.
