Larry,

If you are getting no sounds including sound effects from your laptop and
a sighted person verifies that JAWS is still running, it is possible that
you inadvertently muted your sound card. I found out the hard way that my
laptop has a dedicated mute button.
You may want to have a sighted person check your special function keys for
a mute key and show you where it is. If there is none, have them open
your system tray, double click the volume icon and see if mute is checked.
If so that is your problem. Uncheck it.

Regards.

Silent Laptop

Hi Folks,

This morning while in the middle of a project my laptop simply quit
speaking.. I have a Dell Inspiron laptop running Jaws 8 and windows-XP.
A sighted colleague told me that I had the desktop and all of the windows
functionality however, I get absolutely no sound not even Narrator or
Windows load sound.
Any ideas how to make this thing talk?
