Setting Up Webcam With Skype

Hi.
my dad has got a external webcam, and plugged it into his acer machine,
installed the software, which is a microsoft web cam!
yeah, surprised myself!
now, he is using skype 4, i think, how does he set up the webcam, so he can
use it to watch video on calls he makes.
had to sign up and sign into windows live id, which they did.
so any one done this before?
they are newbies, and not very tech minded and first time doing this.
