thanks for thinking to mention that. I do it all the time, myself, but 
forgot to suggest it because I got stuck on Dave's thought that it was too 
bad you couldn't toggle the setting. I was just nodding agreeably and 
thinking, "Yeah, that's a shame," so I completely forgot that I just delete 
stuff like that when I wish to. Glad one of our brains is hitting on all 
cylinders today.

Hi Dave,

    Now that you have the option checked to include the original message in
replies, you can easily not include the original message when desired by
doing the following:

Immediately after you press Control R to do a reply, press Control A to
select what is there and then press the Delete key. Doing this will select
the original message and then delete it.

    I do this whenever it is unnecessary to include the original message in
a reply.
