Barbara,

Kelly's suggestions are excellent. It also seems necessary to make sure both the client and server remote access components are installed on both machines. You know how it says "Entire feature will be installed on local hard drive". That should be the case on both the client and the server. Also be sure that all items relating to remote access in the advanced section of the basics dialog are checked. I assume you are running Jaws Professional on your client machine, and that it is authorized for remote access.

This sounds like somehow the remote speech option for JAWS isn't getting set
from your work computer. This means that the actual wav sound is getting
send over the remote connection which accounts for the choppy nature of what
you are getting.

When this has happened to me it has uslaly been because the firewall isn't
set on one of the machines in question to allow remote access.

You can also try checking in JAWS on the work computer when you are
connected what speech is set.

Subject: Remote Access with JAWS

Good Evening List,

I am looking for rather detailed assistance with using JAWS Remote Access.
My network coworkers have set up a test server and using Citrix I can come
home and get in and access everything just fine. However when I access my
real desktop, the speech comes through choppy as if the speech itself is
being transmitted from the work computer. When I leave work I turn JAWS off
and log off, but do not shut down. We have doubled checked all the
recommended settings in the JAWS Remote Access Help manual. We can not
determine what the difference is between the test server and my work PC.

Does anyone have any experience with this or suggestions.

Sincerely,
Barbara Anne
