Real speed when I get into websites

Hi my friends,

I use winxp pro with jfw5.0.844.

Today, I've changed my speed from 750.0kbps to 1.5 mbps.

But when I get in my local area connection and I go in to status, I see the 
previous speed, 750kbps. How can I make sure that I have now the speed of 
1.5-mbps and not 750-kbps?

I have usb-cable modem connection and my isp told me that I have now the high 
speed of 1.5-mbps but my computer shows me another thing.

Can you help me to know where I'm standing exactly?
