first three things that come to mind:
1. make sure the word window is maximized (alt and spacebar, then x for maximize) 2. it seems to me that yes there are focus issues so try alt tabbing out of the window and back in, or hitting insert and escape to refresh the window, or you can try resetting the scripts for word by hitting insert and control and escape and see if that resets the focus well enough to work right 3. last try, it could be garbage build up in memory, try unloading jaws and reloading it, I use the jaws close command (insert f4) to close and a hot key I made for jaws (control shift j) to reopen it since I use sleep mode a lot and sometimes need to reset jaws after coming out of sleep mode.

hope one of these helps,

Subject: Reading document in MS Office Word 2010

Dear All,

I am having a problem with reading documents in Office 2010.

Generally I read through documents line by line, continually pressing the down arrow key. I am finding that on occasion JAWS does not read the lines properly. Sometimes it will read part of the line and when I press the arrow key to go to the next line, it simply repeats the previous line (or part of) again.

This can get annoying if I'm reading a particularly long document. The only way I can seem to remedy it is by pressing the up arrow key and then the down arrow one a few times. It is like JAWS is losing focus or the focus is not being directed properly.

Would anyone have any suggestions for how I could fix this? I hope I have explained it well enough.

I am using JAWS V 11, Windows XP and Office 2010. Perhaps I need to upgrade to JAWS V 12 while using Office 2010?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Claire.
