Yardbird, I'm sincerely sorry for the misunderstanding. I just said pay
pal instead of text pal. I'm so sorry I confused you.
Btw, I'm Nicol, I'm mail.
.pdf files is the file type used in adobe reader. What I meant was that
jaws freezes on my system each time I open adobe itself or if I press
enter in windows explorer on a .pdf file, in either cases my system
freezes.
I speak under correction is a term used to say: I might be wrong.
I hope the air is clear; so spread your wings, lol.

Benjamin,
thanks for stepping in. But all I was even interested in was a link to
go
somewhere to *read* about Text Pal, and I'm sure I would have found the
link
for downloading it, once I was at such a place. Meantime, I'm still not
sure
what on earth was going on here. When I clicked on a link someone
provided,
which I thought would be a link to a Web site with simply some info
about
Text Pal, I was confronted with a Windows message asking me to be sure
if I
wanted to download a program. I didn't even try to find out what program
I
apparently was asking to download. I just hit Escape, because I was so
surprised.
Now, if you reread what Nicole wrote to me, she did *not* simply type a
P
instead of a T. What she said was this:

> ----
> HI yardbird
> I suggested pay pal. The link you clicked on will download pay pal.
> Unlike other text editors, you can open pdf documents with pay pal. It
> will convert the pdf file to text. Its very handy for me to use pay

pdf

> If I understand the pay pal manual correctly, you can even write
> programs in pay pal but I speak under correction.
>

-- So you see, she substituted the word Pay for the word Text,
repeatedly. I
couldn't make the mental leap to imagine how someone would confused Text
Pal
and Pay Pal. It was just a little too extreme, the difference, so I
simply
got confused.

Also, what does it mean "to speak under correction?" Is this a generally

British or perhaps specifically South African way of saying "I may be
wrong?" Also, I have no trouble using Adobe Reader and Jaws to read
.pdf
files. I believe Nicole when she says it troubles her system, but this
isn't
anything I would have thought of. But I guess that's irrelevant to this
particular misunderstanding.

Again, I had not asked anyone for a link to download anything, in the
first
place. I just wanted to know where to go and read about the program.
Just
read. I'm sure I could find the link to download it if I wished to. As
for
Text Pal resembling Pay Pal, I don't know what to say. But it's all
right,
now. I'll just google text pal and find the site where the information
is,
so I can read about it.

Also, I don't understand talking about opening a .pdf file with a text
editor. I never open a .pdf file with Word, for instance, or Notepad, or

WordPad. I open it with Adoobe Reader, as you're supposed. And then Jaws

allows me to read it. I have no idea what is meant by talking about
trying
to open a .pdf file with a text editor. I'm totally confused. Someone
please
say you understand now!hat on earth does it mean
Thanks.

yardbird (as opposed to Bluebird or Jailbird) :-)

Nicole mistyped TextPal with a T (the free text editor) as PayPal with a
P (the online payment system). That's the source of the confusion.

You can download TextPal with a T from:
