Besides where the progam runs, what are the pros and cons of web based
verses stand alone?

Hi Ralph,

I would recommend use of a web-based RSS feed aggregator instead of a
stand-alone piece of software. The best, most accessible aggregator is
BlogLines at http://www.bloglines.com.

If you must use a stand-alone reader, Sharp Reader works reasonably well.
It is available at http://www.sharpreader.net. You might also want to try
the Thunderbird e-mail / RSS client from the Mozilla Foundation at
http://www.mozilla.org. I've found that it is not perfect, but is
reasonably accessible.

Regards,

Darrell
