Hi Chris, I'm not sure I follow you, but here's what I thought was happening in this sequence. A person posted a message asking how to deal with the fact that when he launched AVG's interface, it came up (you can confirm this by pressing Insert T and hearing the title of the interface) but something was in the way preventing him accessing the interface, and he had managed to figure out that pressing Alt Tab would put him in the interface so that he could access the menu line. Okay? That's for starters. I wrote back quickly and said not to worry, it's just that a panel comes up that's essentially a portrait of the system at the moment, with a number of lines itemizing the program's component's and their states. And that he'd done the right thing to get around it (after reading through its information, if he cared to) and gained access to the interface in the way he'd expected when launching the program. That was all that happened at first. I was able to explain this because I, too, have installed this application and I have gained this understanding after initially being perplexed just as he'd been. BTW, I'm partial and can actually see that this is a vertical panel that appears over the left side of the interface window, but disappears when you Alt tab and then you get just the interface without that overlay. Then the next person chimes in to express his heartfelt distaste for tool bars, whether what he imagines to be this one or any other. Malware, he called it. I can certainly sympathize with that feeling, and try to avoid allowing anything to install a toolbar by arrangement with Google or anyone else when the program's installing. No disagreement. But, and this is a big but, the truth was that he'd jumped to a conclusion and misunderstood what was being described, and it wasn't a tool bar at all, and it's all okay. that's what happened. Now it's all settled and the original poster is not only able to use the program and its menus, but is clear that this was a design quirk but not a real impediment to using the program. And nothing at all to do with a tool bar, so far as I understand what I've explained above. I hope this is more clear. Thanks. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Mullins, Chris" <Chris.Mullins@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, May 30, 2008 3:08 AM Subject: RE: Questions About AVG 8.0 I find this so strange I had to respond. First of all Chris expressed his opinion about question 2 of the original post regarding an AVG Toolbar, which seems totally acceptable to me. Then Yardbird responds saying the post isn't about a toolbar, when question 2 clearly is, then Crhis apologises for making a perfectly plausible response. What's going on?
