Curmudgeon, glad to hear that someone else's machine is working like mine.
I think some folks must not be clear as to whether read in plain text is 
checked 
or unchecked.
Unchecking that box means you have access to HTML and checking means you have 
access to only plain text.
Jed Barton's original post I believe, was addressing a different issue. I 
believe he was asking about opening links while on the web or while in a web 
access program. This is a much more complicated issue, related to security 
settings, firewalls pop-ups, etc. etc.
