Re: Question about Jaws vs. NVDA

I have a decision to make as well.
My SMA is up to renewal by the time version 12 comes out. The only reason I use JAWS now is when NVDA causes problems with a particular application, for example AIM, or if I need to help somebody in using JAWS or the computer through Tandem. I am also asking if it's worth renewing my SMA for JAWS Standard or just stick with 12. What do you all think? NVDA fits most of my needs with the above implications.
Many thanks. Take care.

Hi everyone,

First, I want to apologize if this isn't an appropriate question for this
list. I understand it is primarily a JAWS list . If any of you have info or
opinions you could share with me though, perhaps you won't mind answering
off-list?

I am trying to determine how the free NVDA product compares with JAWS for
basic screen reading. I don't use most of the bells and whistles of JAWS
anyway and am wondering if I should re-new my SMA agreement. If NVDA will do
most of what JAWS does, I am thinking that may be just as good for my needs.
I have never used it though and have my doubts whether it is as functional
as JAWS.

Any suggestions or thoughts about this will be appreciated.

Have a great day!
