Hi.
Yet another advantage that putting Jaws to sleep has over unloading
it is that you can have no speech in a program while still having braille
output. This is useful sometimes where the program has its own speech, or
its own sounds , but where you want braille in the program. Of course, if
Jaws is unloaded, you get no braille.
        Aman

One advantage is that if you want to skip over to anotehr program for a
while, you can alt-t-tab or move to the desktop, and when you move back to
your put-to-sleep program JAWS will shut up again. Another advantage is
that you can save the put-to-sleep configuration so that whenever you
enter the program in question now and forever more, JAWS will go to sleep
on cue without any intevention. Also, if indeed there is any truth to the
contention that repeated loading and unloading destabilizes JAWS, then
this is a way to avoid that.
