Adrian, Interesting. I never knew about that quick access to compacting. I always dug it out of tools/options/maintenance. Thanks for the tip. I also notice that pressing the letter "C" instead of "F" at the end of the sequence will just compact the current folder. BTW it appears that you can compact all folders regardless of which folder you're pointing to. Dave, your recommendation to turn off auto archive is consistent with what I was urged to do. Once turned off, it never became a problem. 2. I occasionally got a message asking if I wanted to compact messages. The way to avoid it coming up when it isn't convenient is to initiate compacting, which is easy to do. To ensure you compact all folders, place focus in the first level, the box right above the in-box. (sorry, I forget what it's called, but you get to it by tabbing to the folders list and arrowing up once from the in-box.) then press alt-f, followed by f, followed by another f. Allow a few minutes for compacting to complete. -----Original Message----- From: jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:jfw-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Ray Campbell Sent: Wednesday, September 29, 2010 10:41 AM To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: RE: Problem with JFW 11 and Autoarchiving in Outlook Express Hi Dave: That message about compacting items is what comes up for the client when he closes. I understand it could take a long time, but we waited probably 10 minutes, and JAWS was giving percentages for a while, then stopped with no indication what was going on.
