Very strange, and I have JAWS 9 on this machine. Using Word 2007 and it
does
not skip document numbers. It correctly assigns 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.
but I would attribute this to MS-word and not to JAWS.
Do you have Word set up to open new documents as separate instances of
Word,
or for each to be part of the one instance? Perhaps that is something to
consider.
In any case, is it merely a curiosity, or does it cause a problem? I
usually
just assign a name to any new document I create.
Since we are now up to JAWS 11 I would personally just let it ride.

When using JAWS9 & Office 2003, if I press CTRL+N in an open Word file,
the new Word file title advances by 2 digits instead of 1. For ex. If

open Word file is Document 1 & I press CTRL+N, Document 3 will open &
there is no sign of Document 2. This problem does not happen when using
JAWS 7 on the same computer. If I press CTRL+N in Document 1 when using
JAWS 7, Document 2 will open.
Has anybody else noticed such a peculiar behaviour with JAWS 9 & if so,
were they able to find a solution to this number-skipping?
