I use OmniPage. Simply by pressing the applications key and following
prompts, OmniPage will perform OCR on a PDF file and create a new Word, RTF
or other file for you. It seems Amazon is now offering the software for just

I usually ask them to send the files in either Word or Text format, but am
hoping to ultimately find a way to do that myself, and save them the
trouble.
It's not that people haven't been co-operative, but I just like avoiding
extra steps, if at all possible.

Tom, Can't you ask the sender to send in a more accessible manner I think
people in the Uk do at times, I have like you K1000 and ttip mine into it,
but I do think that if you have mMicrosoft Document Imaging in your version
of the Office suite that you can do the same thing, I have seen people say

I am having the same problem too, especially with PDF files at work.
And, does anyone know how best to deal with PDF files that are scanned image
files?
I have K1000 here at home, but not at work, so a non K1000 solution would be
helpful.
The folks at work are very helpful, and try converting the PDF's to Word or
text documents, but that is a real pain at times.

document to be made readable, I find I can only read the first few lines.
I am using Jaws 10 and Windows Vista.
