I believe the problem your running into is due to windows messenger being in
the services list and is "on standby" there which means its loaded but not in
use unless you give it the go ahead to run and sign you in from any of a couple
or few spots.

I think you can find information on shutting that down on

I checked carefully, and the only option in Outlook Express which deals with
Windows Messenger is:
Automatically log onto Windows Messenger check box not checked.

With outlook express, In the tools menu, click options. On the general tab,
you should find a checkbox for msn messenger loading. Uncheck that. It will say
something to the effect of run msn messenger when outlook express starts.

I have a problem with Outlook Express on one of my computers. When I am
in Outlook Express, there is an item which shows up about me not being signed
into Windows Messenger. It also shows up in the Outlook Express options. It
doesn't show up on the other computer, even though I am running the same
software on both computers.

I do not have Windows Messenger installed, and it doesn't show up in the
control panel under add or remove programs.

How do I get Windows Messenger disassociated with my Outlook Express
again.

      Thank you.
