Thanks to everyone who responded about my problem with Outlook Express. I have downloaded and installed the scripts for Outlook Express from the JFW lite page but unfortunately I don't see any improvement. I still cannot respond to a message in the regular way most of the time but if it is a Jaws problem I hope FS will fix it. Unclear what their purpose is or what exactly to do with them, I located Debbie's helpful hints page, and then her page dedicated to OE.
