When I uncheck Unread Messages, Outlook goes crazy.  Sent messages appear in
my Inbox.

Hi, You need to uncheck that "unread messages" option. This is why your
already read messages are vanishing when you close out Outlook. When you
read an unread message with the "unread messages" option checked that
message will remain so long as you are in that particular folder but when
you close out Outlook those previously read messages will not be shown to
you.

Just get to the "unread messages" option and hit the space bar. This
*should* turn it off and, WALLA, your hidden messages should show back up.

Under View, Unread Messages is checked.  I don't find a Show All choice.

When going to the top of the Inbox, Today is expanded.
