I think you're just seeing the reading pane open. Use the f6 key to move
around from pane-to-pane. Then when you're positioned on the Inbox open the
view menu and turn off the reading pane, todo bar, and task pane, to keep
things clean.

Subject: Outlook 2007
Hi all. I just bought myself a new laptop computer with Windows 7 and am
using Outlook 2007 on it. I'm experiencing a small problem with Outlook.
When I open Outlook, I end up going right in to an e-mail message instead of
just the program. I try getting out of the message by hitting escape, but I
get nowhere. I end up closing Outlook and starting again. Can someone please
tell me how to fix this?
