I'm not sure what the problem is here. I am using Outlook 2003 with JAWS
6.1.1006 and I get attachments announced already, in fact I have always
heard them announced.

That *may* work but there is another way. If you are using JAWS. Set JAWS
verbosity to show ALL graphics. Send yourself one message with no attachment
and put in the subject line "no attachment in this message" then send
yourself another message with an attachment and put in the subject line "I
have an attachment". Then turn on the JAWS cursor and read the unlabeled
graphics in the list view for those two messages. The one with the
attachment has an unlabeled graphic that visually indicates an attachment.
Just use insert G to lavel this graphic then turn the JAWS verbosity back to
labeled.

.I don't use Outlook, and I have Outlook XP, so I went to the help section
to .see about the notifying the user as to if an attachment is present.
This is .the result:
.
.Customize how the screen reader sees attachments .
.Use the keyboard to choose the Customize Current View command (View menu,
.Current View submenu).
.
.Click Fields, and then click New Field.
.In the Name box, type a name for the field, such as Attachment included.
.In the Type list, click Formula.
.In the Format box, type: IIf([Attachment]=True,"Attachment","")
.Click OK three times.
.
.I don't know if this will work, as I am about to head for sleep, but it
.might help.
