The point of the petition is to attempt to keep costs down for all who use braille displays, from the manufacturer all the way down to the end user. This signed driver initiative is also a way for freedom scientific to make it harder for competitors to get an advantage. You are correct, this is definitely *not* list material. That is exactly why you are encouraged to investigate this and voice your views on your own time, off list.
