Open parent document - what is this?

Hi,
When I open a PDF-file in Adobe Reader 9, I have noticed a button is called
Open parent document.
Have some of the peoples of this mailinglist a explanation of what this
button is used for?
I using Adobe Reader 9, Internet Explorer 7 and JAWS 9 and 10.
