HI Dave,

I know they're keeping the ribbon, but I've heard that so many people have complained about the ribbon that, at least in the next version of Office, they're going to incorporate both. I'm glad that your experience with ribbons hasn't been as hellish as mine, but I don't think your reaction is representative of most users. From what I can tell, the introduction of ribbons has been an enormous flop.

Bill,

I used to think like you, but after using Office 2007 for a few months I can navigate around fairly easily in the ribbon. Takes practice, and it's likely
here to stay.

Hey Daniel,

You're not the only one who's frosted about the whole ribbon fiasco. I've
looked online and practically everyone who's used the Office suite over the
last fifteen years is outraged because the ribbons thing makes no sense.
Some arrogant 22 year old probably figured he knew a better way than the
classic menues --despite the fact that we've all been using them
productively and happily with no complaints. I hope that guy has been fired
now, or run over by a car.

Hi Kerri, just on the subject of open office with jaws once I used it and
quickly got rid of it. Can you you tell me one thing I notice straight
away was that the "say all" command doesn't work that's to say you do the
command and jaws just reads the current line your sitting on. Is this
correct? I was surprised that Jaws doesn't work with this programme. I
would really like it someone out there could be really brave and do some
work with making it accessable meaning the programme and of course Jaws! I
do really think I would use it then cos I must admit I hate microsoft's
word 2007 I really find it hard about the rybin and such. Maybe someone
could do a podcast on office programmes 2007 I know there's the daisy
book you can download but personally I would prefer a more in death
training on office 2007. If any one knows more infomation on a podcast on
this with Jaws then please! let me know!
Many Thanks
Daniel

Hello, I've used (or shold I say attempted to use) open office and it
doesn't work at all with jaws. The spell check is the worst I've ever
seen as Jaws says Graphic 887 whenever it tries to spell check.

I've seen messages on one of the jaws lists saying it works once you
install the java access bridge. Haven't tried it personally though,
never liked OpenOffice even when I could see.
