Art,

Do you understand that this is an unfamiliar way of describing Open Book
usage, to someone else? here is my setup: I have Open Book on my computer.
I also have Microsoft Word, of course. And I have a Microtek scanner.

Okay. Now when I simply scan by using Open Book in the normal way, I put
something printed onto the scanner, then launch Open Book and give the Scan
command. The scanner starts up, scans the material into Open Book, and when
it's done I can read it in Open Book, save it as an .ark file or a Word
document or a plain text file, and that's how I use Open Book and my
scanner. I don't use some other menu or program from the scanner company,
as you seem to do. Don't you just have your Open Book program set to use
your HP Scanner, so that's what's invoked when you use Open Book to scan?
And when you use that feature in Word, doesn't it, too, scan using the same
scanner? Why do you talk about using the HP scanner as if it was separate
from Open Book or that Word command? Do you understand what I'm asking?
Are you aware of using a nonstandard way of scanning with the OCR program
that is Open Book? Does anyone else reading this understand what I'm
asking?

No, I have just one scanner. When I scan using the HP scan program it is
very slow, when I scan using the open book program it is much faster. Using
HP you arrow down to acquire text and with open book arrow down to scan
using open book. It does take time for the scanner to warm up.
