I use finereader and if there is a table, it is scanned and when I export
the text to word this table is correctly read with jfw.

we'll have to leave that to the experts, but the document needs to be
formatted correctly. I don't know if any of the ocr engines will do this
properly. I do know though that if you are writing a document in word and
you set it up in columns, propperly, it can be read in columns but then
again, It was several years back that this was possible and it may not even
be so any more.

Well you learn something new every day. Please tell me how to do this as it
would greatly reduce my stress at work. We get a lot of stuff with English
on one half of the page and French on the other. Welcome to Canada (smile)

Cheers & thanks...rocker

Actually, if a document is propperly formatted in columns, jfw will happily
read a column only for you and allow you to read across a row as well.

Dough!
Hit me with a spoon. I have never been able to read side by side columns in
any document using jfw.
What you would likely have to do is adjust the scan area for each column
and scan them separately. This is only a guess. Sorry for the
confusion...rocker

I think the question was once a document is scanned, can you read in
columns.

Yes it will scan columns. It also has a user dictionary along with an
extensive dictionary of professional words and acronyms so it it is very
accurate.
