If you're in Word, be sure you are in normal view. Then JFW will read the second column as though it were an extension of the first.
the other thing you can do is go to the bottom of the first column with the JAWS cursor, then alt-right arrow to the second.
another way to get there is go to the first column with the JAWS cursor, right arrow to the second, and rout JAWS to Pc.
Remember that if the first column spans more than one page, JAWS will folow it down to the next page--unless you do the things mentioned above--instead of going to the second column.
