I will say that the Lenovo Thinkpad X61 I received last September running Vista has a number of problems. I am running Jaws 8 1. There is a lag each time a key is hit. I've gotten around this problem by opening up Windows Media Player, starting to play a file, and pausing the file. Then the response time is normal. Freedom Scientific had no idea how to solve the problem. 2. Jaws will often say that there is an error (6), threaten to run in demo mode, and then shut down. If I restart jaws (not having to restart the computer), everything is fine. 3. Jaws will not read the amount of battery life left using the Jaws+Shift+B keystroke. It simply says "battery status not found." jack ----- Original Message ----- From: Gary King To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Monday, March 03, 2008 11:29 AM Subject: Re: New computer & Jaws It's always good to find out which new computers work well with JAWS. I've seen 3 answers to Nancy's question so far, and only one has included a model number. All computers of a particular brand don't work equally well with JAWS. So, if you are going to tell us that your new laptop or desktop is JAWS friendly, please tell us the model number. I need to purchase a new computer today and know it will be a Dell laptop but not sure which one. Is anyone out there using Jaws with a laptop running Vista? I'm still hearing that Vista is not very stable with laptops and wonder if this is still an issue. If you have a Dell laptop, which one do you have? Does anyone have a XPS laptop or a Lattitude? Your input is greatly appreciated.
