Well, yeah, but see, most of the rest of the universe is using iTunes as their media player of choice, and so any time we blind users have access to the same mainstream software is a major step forward, in my book. So that's why everyone's making a big deal of the iTunes thing. The new Tandem feature is going to be great for all users b/c I remember having an issue a couple years ago with a website and the JAWS cursor with onmouseover links. The tech support person had no problem and I was the one with the problem that couldn't be duplicated. Now, if the Tandem feature had been there then, things would have been sorted out. so this is definitely a major step forward along those lines as well. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Yardbird" <yardbird@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

I just listened to the FSCast, too. I'm not an ITunes user, although Icertainly can appreciate the difference this scripting I think there's some built-in scripting in Jaws 10, anyway)and the MSAA on Apple's side will makewith Jaws, because I once explored the site out of curiosity and realized that without buying the JTunes scripts, there wasn't a chance in the worldthat I could even familiarize myself with the site's layout and features. Sothat's great, for those who will use it. But the feature they're making the big fuss about is this Tandem function that will allow someone, for instance a Jaws tech support person, todirectly connect with a Jaws user's computer and actually operate it, tweak settings and scripts, and all sorts of helpful things. Just plain Jaws users will be able to also use the feature for free acting as the "controller" tohelp a Jaws-using friend if it's only occasional usage, or pay a quarterly or annual subscription fee. But for the user, the main advantage will be that when you call FS tech support, they can connect with you and do stuff on your own computer, and you can continue to operate from your side, aswell, if that's called for. The podcast explains very clearly how it works. In this case, of course, the Jaws customer doesn't have to pay any fee. FS is paying on the support side, the "controller's" fee it's called.I remember a few years ago I got frustrated about an FS tech support personnot being able to duplicate a problem I was describing, in this case acouple of bugs that he had a hard time understanding and couldn't duplicateon is own computer. I remember saying something like that audible.com had something like this in place for years, and had often helped me with difficult issues, so what was the big deal for FS? Of course there were reasonable-sounding answers about the complexity of a screen reader beinginvolved or something, so I just let it go. But this ought to be really nicefor some users, especially newer ones but not exclusively so.----- Original Message ----- From: "Chris Hallsworth" <christopherhallsworth71@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, September 22, 2008 3:28 PM Subject: Re: New FSCast Reveals Big News about JAWS 10 Yeah I know what you mean! -- Chris Hallsworth E-mail: christopherhallsworth71@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx MSN: ch9675@xxxxxxxxxxx Skype: chrishallsworth7266----- Original Message ----- From: "Mark Driesenga" <truthobjective@xxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, September 22, 2008 11:18 PM Subject: Re: New FSCast Reveals Big News about JAWS 10I can't wait for the new JAWS beta, just for the iTunes support! :) Definitely worth it.----- Original Message ----- From: "Alex Midence" <alex.midence@xxxxxxxxx>To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Monday, September 22, 2008 5:10 PM Subject: Re: New FSCast Reveals Big News about JAWS 10I'm excited about the possible patch for Jaws 8 and 9 and iTunes.
