yes, you may need an updated video driver. Jaws should support 800x600
resolution but I usually use 1024x768

Hi, David:

It's an Asus P4B533, which has been working great with Win98SE and
JFW4.02 up until yesterday.

HD is a MAXTOR 300GB with MaxBlast partitioning it into a 30- and a
261-gig partition. The 30-gig partition is, of course, the C (boot)
drive. All other partitions and disks work fine.

Now I'm almost sure it's going to be a video issue because I notice
right away in Control Panel, Display, I only get two color settings,
16-bit and 24-bit. My other XP machine has a 32-bit setting which is
chosen.

My video card is noted as an S3 ViRGE DX/GX. Now here's someting
*absolutely fascinating*--I just switched from 600x800 pixels to
1024x768, and bingo, everything speaking correctly now! What the
heck! But I still can't turn off those pesky JAWS help messages for
some reason, and they are getting annoying. Ah well, one thing, one
day at a time.
