Thanks Yardbird. I figured if it only happens to me alone, I'd contact FS and see if I need to change something. Jaws is doing some other odd things from time to time so I wonder if I don't have things set up right.

The reason I use this control is I like to get new mail manually instead of when OE starts or automatically every so often.

Okay, I see. Well, bobcat, if it's of any comfort at all, the messages Jaws
reads me at times like during the email send/receive process have a way of
changing from time to time, inexplicably, though it seems incidental to me.
I'll bow out, now, and maybe someone else can pin this down for you. Good
luck clearing it up a little bit, one way or another.

I just want to know if this behavior is unusual and what I should do about
it.

I just sent and received (not "transferred") some email, and hit my Insert
T
while it was in progress. All I heard was something like Inbox, sending
mail, receiving mail. How come you're bothering with this command while
you're uploading and downloading mail? As I said, it isn't the program's
main window, but a temporary dialogue that is showing what the program's
doing with your mail and giving a progress report on its actions. I don't
see the problem. Is it getting in your way of doing anything?

That is the dialog I'm talking about. The thing I noticed is that while
messages are being transferred, if I hit say title, Jaws says "graphic ###
page: is: then the name of a message in my inbox. I didn't notice this
when
I first started using Jaws, just a few weeks ago.

The title of this dialog is: Outlook Express but it isn't the main OE
window.

I'm a longtime Outlook Express user, back to when I could still clearly
see
the interface a few years ago, and I can't figure out what you're
referring
to. Send and Receive isn't the name of a window of any sort. It's just
a
function you can invoke from the menu, or with the hotkey command Control
M,automatically on program launch and with a timer. But it's not a
window,
unless you mean a dialogue that comes up temporarily to inform you that
the
process is happening, and then goes away.

Could you describe again what's bothering you? I'm trying to figure out
what it is that you're hearing, and what it's related to. when I give
the
command to upload and download email, Jaws speaks to me some of what that
dialogue is saying, including its progress bar. You know, like, I'll
hear
"sending mail from server, 26 per cent, 98 per cent," and so forth, and
then
I hear a "bing!" telling me that the whole thing is done and I have new
mail.

Compared to this sort of thing, what is it that you're hearing that
strikes
you as odd?

thanks.

thanks.

I am referring to the Outlook Express window. That is the window title
but
it should be called send and receive. You don't see this window if you
automatically send and receive. However, it is there if you press f5 in
the
main OE window to send and receive.

What's the message transfer dialogue? Are you talking about the moving
process, where you move a message from one folder to another with the
command control shift v? Or is there another function called
transferring
that I haven't yet learned about? Thanks a lot.

Jaws tells me something I never heard before in the Outlook Express
message
transfer dialog when I get the title with Jaws key t. It says the
title,
Outlook Express, then it says "page is" and some info about a message.
This keeps changing. Could it be Norton Anti Virus? I tried to turn
off
NAV notifications but it didn't make a difference. Not a problem. Just
curious.
