Hi Gary, This is how its done: In order to get AT&T Natural Voices to be recognized by JAWS you have to edit the JFW.INI file in the installation folder of the version of JAWS you are using (i.e., C:\JAWS451 if using JAWS 4.51). The additions you need to make are in the "Synthesizers" section of this file and should be similar to what follows although the upper case "X" and "Y" in this example are only for demonstrating that you must determine the numeric values to replace "X" and "Y." You don't have to have Eloquence as the number "1" synthesizer either, but for the sake of example I left it as it actually appears in my JFW.INI file: ------------ [Synthesizers] Synth1Name=eloq Synth1LongName=Eloquence for JAWS Synth1Driver=eloq SynthXName=AT&T SynthXLongName=AT&T Natural Voices SynthXDriver=mssapi SynthYName=NoSpeech SynthYLongName=No Speech SynthYDriver=nospeech ------------ Just a note here about the "SynthXName=AT&T" line; I suggest you don't attempt to be at all verbose in naming the value here because it seems to me that JAWS will try to match the letters you use with it finds in the registry -- so the more letters you use the more likely it will be that you have it wrong and JAWS won't be able to find it (and there should be no spaces embedded in the "AT&T" entry). This does not apply to the "SynthXLongname=" line, I believe this is only for documentation purposes and I know you can use a value of any choosing so long as when you want to change to this synthesizer (unless you set it up as the number "1" synthesizer) you can recognize the long name you enter as the one that references Natural Voices; heck, try "Icabod Crane" in this value and it will work! And as for the "SynthXDriver=MSSAPI" -- I used this driver bedcause I was unable to get the MSSAPI 5 driver to work on my system, but it may be more convenient or perform better if you can get MSSAPI5 to be recognized, I cannot speak to this at all! One final note, you may need to add a line like: AT&T=dectalk in the "Synonyms" section of the settings\enu\SYMBOLS.INI file, perhaps JAWS 5.0 already has included a line like this or has specifically defined a section for Natural Voices, again I cannot speak to this since I have not installed JAWS 5.0 as of yet. Hope this helps.
