Hi Rick, As a good rule of thumb, it is a great idea to keep private e-mail messages and telephone communications private, and not making them public unless you have confirmed permission from the other party. I make exceptions with all communications involving local, state or Federal government programs or anything even closely related, like Dial-A-Ride. In those cases, I feel free to release any e-mails and/or recorded face-to-face or telephone communications to the public, as I feel I have paid for those with my tax dollars and the taxpaying public has an inherent right to know. Not so with business in the private sector or personal communications among family, friends, etc. It is important to be careful. All the same, if someone publicly comments on a blog, mailing list, voice chat room, etc. then, well, that's fair game. Mr. Damery was not pleased that I released his comments to the public for some reason. My intent was only to give him the opportunity to comment on my comments on my blog. I felt that once he did that that there wasn't a problem posting his statement. He seems to disagree though. I have apologized to him and promised not to post any more comments from him without his permission. Some years ago the FS legal team booted me from the private beta program because I mentioned as long as they sent me communications to a governmental email, I couldn't promise to keep them confidential. I suggested everyone in that situation be asked to switch to a private email address. Don't know what mis-communication happened between the head of programming (Chris Hoffstedter at that time) and legal, but the next I knew I was out of the beta program with no reason given except a vague reference to my not honoring the terms of the agreement. Any organization run like that needs someone to look at the big picture to see why things like that occur. It seems to me FS has lost the "big picture" of making customers happy long ago. There are other products, sometimes inferior, but everyone who knows them well communicates the feeling that those companies haven't yet lost the big picture of customer satisfaction. I voluntarily resigned from their beta team quite sometime back because I felt I couldn't spend enough time on it to really do it justice. FS needs frequent, quality feedback from its beta testers in order to know exactly what needs to be fixed. I feel FS folks ought to seriously evaluate their private beta program, making sure to have the highest possible quality members and, perhaps, give people a bit more of an incentive to participate. So I'm forced to retract my statement on my Blog post stating that the Virtual Buffer problem won't be fixed until Jaws 9 releases later this year. He stated that they fixed the specific bug that is causing the problem. Also that no one has been reporting the virtual buffer issue to tech support anymore. So essentially they don't have the problem there and they can't duplicate my reported issue about it happening to me. Eric stated that and I have to agree with that the problem doesn't occur often anymore. So if anyone can duplicate the problem and report it to FS support then they will look into it further. But since no one is reporting problems to tech support the problem is resolved as far as they are concerned. So if anyone can duplicate the problem they need to contact tech support with specific steps to duplicate it on their machines. Eric also stated that they have almost no customers using Vista that are reporting any issues to technical support and are concentrating on the Xp customers as that's where the bulk of their business is. They said no one reported the volume control issue to them until this week. He said no one has reported any of the windows mail issues either. So I don't know who is and who isn't using vista but if you are and you are having any of the problems that I noted then you all need to speak up and let support know about it. Because Eric said no one is calling in with any Vista issues that he knows of.
