After playing with this jaws more, I've discovered it's only the punctuation it
will not let me change. Whatever it is in default, it will not allow me to
change it in any other applications. All other settings it will.

After more probing on this issue with my jaws this is the deal... I am able
to change the default settings. It allows that. However, for some reason it
will not let me change it in other settings. All applications revert back to
whatever the default is.
I changed punctuation to all in the default file, and then went into try to
change it to no punctuation in internet explorer, as I prefer that doesn't say
all punctuation. Well, it goes back to the default setting. So for some
reason all applications want to revert back to the default settings. Such an
odd problem...
I even tried reinstalling jaws and reinstalling it again. Same problem...
