Hi, the control s feature just opens a window gets the title gets from =
that
the status and then closes the window. =20
It should work no matter what os is being used. =20
I will do some testing when I can get to a windows 9x system. Please =
note
my focus right now for these scripts is working on the alpha build of
miranda so when they get around to releceing the thing support will be =
ready
for it. Also note I am not trying to leave 9x user out of anything. =
Also
note that 9x is not my primary operating system so each time we report a
problem with 9x I have to go use a back up computer. Also this is not =
my
only on going project. So I will test when I can and fix what I can for =
9x
users. Hth=20

I hope this is still in keeping with the Miranda and JAWS topic =
discussion
we're having on this thread.

I pressed Insert plus H for JAWS help while sitting on the main window =
of
Miranda, and I read the part where it says I could arrow up and down in =
the
contact list there in the main window to hear my contacts who were =
online or
offline. I could then press control plus shift plus S to hear the =
current
status of that contact. That sounded great, so I tried it. I found =
that it
did not work at all for me. I figured it was just happening for me. I
recently got a friend of mine set up with Miranda. She is using Windows =
XP,
whereas I am using Windows Millennium. She could up and down arrow =
through
the contact list and hear her people who were online and offline. Now, =
the
only difference I can conclude for that, is the operating system. She =
is
using the AIM plug-in, and the Yahoo plug-in only, whereas I am using =
just
the MSN, and the IRC plug-ins. I don't know if the plug-ins make the
difference, but the OS sure does. I know I need to upgrade to a newer, =
more
efficient OS, that goes without saying. I can't really do that at this
time, because my wife is taking online classes, and she doesn't have a =
break
in her classwork yet for me to take the opportunity to upgrade. I am =
wonder
Jim, if you would be willing, or are able to, make some modifications to
make the scripts work for slightly lower versions of Windows, if that =
indeed
is the problem,; or if you could possibly write me lofflist to instruct =
me
in what I need to add to the files to make it work better. I know I'm
behind in the version of Windows, and I see it's becoming increasing =
harder
to use scripts because they're being designed for the newer OS's only, =
but I
hope there is a solution until I can upgrade.

Thanks for letting me ramble a bit more on this topic that is getting =
older
by the day.

Matt

Hi,=3D20
You can get jaws scripts for mirc the same place you got the scripts for
miranda=3D20 Mirc speech is old and not supported any more and has =
problems
working =3D with later versions of mirc. I will check your report about
sounds with the alpha build of the plug in for miranda. =3D20 I have =
received
a lot of requests for scripts for the irc plug in. I my =3D self feel it
leaves a lot to be desired but I will script it as soon as I =3D find =
time.

Wow. I wasn't aware the IRC plug-in couldn't do any of that yet. I just
spent some time configuring, and setting up basic aliases. In addition =
=3D to
the things you mentioned the IRC plug-in not being able to do yet, I do =
=3D
not think the IRC plug-in support scripts of any kind. I can use an IRC =
bot
=3D to that end, but with MIRC (which I do have yes, and use MIRC Speech =
with
=3D it), I had scripts in my own copy of the MIRC client.

I was merely attmepting to simplify the number of messenging and chat
clients I had open. I can't wait for JAWS to speak incoming and =3D =
outgoing
channel messages with the IRC plug-in. One other thing I noticed, but
failed to mention about Miranda's IRC plug-in, is that it will not play =
=3D
the channel message sound one has assigned to the channel message sound =
=3D
event, unless you are not currently sitting on that particular channel's =
=3D
window. Did that make any sense? In otherwords, if I were sitting on a
channel =3D with activity, I wouldn't get any indication there was any
activity going on, unless I got off of the window and sat somewhere =
else,
like on my =3D desktop, or in the start Menu. all other sounds play just =
fine,
no matter if I'm sitting on the active channel or not. That is very
strange. I suppose =3D it's a bug, and I look forward to the next =
release of
the IRC plug-in, as =3D well as any updates to the JAWS scripts.

For what it's worth at this point, the JAWS scripts for Miranda are
fantastic. I was looking for a replacement for MSN Messenger initially, =
=3D
and this provides that very nicely. I was simply attempting to combine =
more
messenging programs into one, lowering the demands for my system =3D
resources. Thanks for you input Jim. It's much appreciated.

Hi, there are quite a lot of things that the irc plug in for miranda =
=3D3D =3D
will not do yet. For example it will not dcc chat dcc send dcc get ssl =
=3D3D
=3D connect list channels there for mirc is a better answer for irc. =
Now in
the =3D3D =3D next relece the plug in is going to be improved and irc =
might work
better =3D3D =3D with moranda. =3D3D20

I already have MIRC for IRC. However, it only seemed logical to use the =
=3D
=3D3D IRC plug-in with Miranda to minimize the need to have multiple =
programs
=3D =3D3D running. That is one of the benefits of having a program that =
can
access multiple messengers, no? It's like saying "get Miranda and have =
all
your =3D =3D3D messenger clients in one place" ... but only use it for =
... and
then =3D name a =3D3D specific client like AIM.

Just thought I'd ask.

Hi, there are scripts for miranda that will read your msn messages. =3D =
=3D3D3D
Miranda is not a good client for irc mirc is much better for irc at this
point =3D3D3D this might change in the next relece. So get mirc for irc =
=3D and
=3D3D get the =3D3D3D scripts for miranda to do your msn messages. =

I didn't think it would take me long to come up with another question =
=3D =3D3D
=3D3D3D for the group.

I have taken many people's advice, and installed Miranda. I find it to =
=3D
=3D3D =3D3D3D be pretty good, albeit a few things. I think there needs =
to be an
=3D IRC =3D3D3D Private Message sound event, so I will know when someone =
sends a
=3D PM =3D3D while I'm on IRC. well, actually, there is a sound of =
sorts. The
=3D default =3D3D sound, =3D3D3D which is a ding for me, will indicate a =
PM, but
I'd like to =3D set =3D3D another, more realistic sound. Anyone know =
how to
accomplish this, =3D since there =3D3D isn't =3D3D3D an IRC Private =
Message sound
event under the =3D sounds category? Now, =3D3D here's another question. =
 I'm
one of those sticklers =3D about JAWS reading =3D3D3D =3D3D incoming =
messages.
JAWS currently doesn't read =3D incoming and outgoing messages =3D3D =
=3D3D3D for
IRC, or MSN messages, which are the =3D two I'm currently using in =
Miranda.
=3D3D =3D3D3D How can I go about fixing this, =3D or must I always route =
jaws to
PC. If =3D3D I'm on IRC, and am in a very active =3D channel, or am =
playing a
game with other =3D3D =3D3D3D users, I will most certainly =3D want to =
hear all
that is going on. How =3D3D bout if =3D3D3D I'm in multiple =3D =
channels. Sure I
hear the sound I have set for when =3D3D a message =3D3D3D comes in, but =
=3D then
one must go find which channel that sound =3D3D came from. =3D3D3D =
Tedious =3D
really. Is there any solution? Thanks
