Microsoft Essentials snag

Hello
I'm not sure if this is related to a setting in Jaws or the virus program
settings. I'm running windows XP with MS office 2002 and when working in
Word things sometimes slow down when I am typing as if the virus program is
interfering. My words get pushed together without spaces in between or a
letter will be dropped from the word altogether. I used to see this with my
previous virus program when it was interfering most likely with a message on
the screen but thought ME did not do this. Is there a setting somewhere I
can change so it does not interfere or is there something to do with Jaws
that needs changing? It does not happen all the time but is beginning to
interfere with my job as a transcriber and I must correct it.
Thanks for any help.
Barbara
