I did all that and it actually doesn't do that. Anyway, someone posted a possible solution, so I'll try that and get back to you all.

Okay. First, in Tools, Options, Preferences tab, Email Options, the first option says After Moving or Deleting an Item. Make sure that's set to open the next item and click okay to get out of both dialog boxes.

Now, press JAWSKey V to bring up the Adjust JAWS Options dialog box. Press R to move directly to the Reading Options area. Go down until you get to Messages Automatically Read. By default this option is turned off, so press spacebar to turn it on and then press Enter.

From here, you can go into your first message and have it read. Press Control-D to delete it, and you should automatically be placed in the next message and JAWS should read it.

Ok, but does anyone know how I can get JAWS 10 to read all of the messages for me, automatically? I know I could just close the message and open the next one, but this is sure time consuming. Please advise. Like Windows Live Mail but am always looking for alternatives in case the one I use breaks. Thanks!

Pat, you did it! I just forwarded myself a PayPal message to one of my outlook accounts, and made sure that it wasn't reading with the standard view. I then went into Tools, Trust Center, and then to the Email Security tab. I located the read all Messages in plain text check box and checked it. I opened the message again and it read beautifully. The best part though is that it still shows the links as links. and they can be brought up in the standard JAWS links list even though the message itself is showing as plain text. This is exactly what I've been wanting to do since I switched to Outlook 2007. Thanks so much for this!!!

Try Tools > Trust Center . There's a "e-Mail Security" tab with a checkbox
something like "Read messages in plain text".

Okay, enough groping on my part. You're absolutely right. I can find no way to have messages automatically converted to plain text when reading. Drat!

Never noticed that I lost this when moving to Outlook 2007.

Hmmm. Then how about the Internet Format button in the Mail Format tab?

That's for composition, not for reading, and it's still using Word as the editor, not a separate editor. The original message is talking about reading
messages, not composing.

Hi,
Past versions of Outlook have had the ability to turn off the default
Microsoft Word editor for e-mail messages. Isn't there a way to do that in
Outlook 2007?
Just curious.

This isn't a Freedom Scientific issue. And, unless things have changed recently, there aren't any screen-readers that can handle these irregular tables, and it really is a major problem. It's something that I've been
told
Microsoft will have to address. I believe that part of the problem is that with Outlook 2007, Word is now the editor for composing new messages, and
also for viewing messages.

I recently went from Outlook 2003 to 2007. Now I find that many
messages
I get from companies such as Amazon and Tesco cannot be read by Jaws
(including the latest version) unless I turn off table recognition. The
messages all seem to be html with irregular tables. Even then I cannot
navigate successfully through the message so I can no longer pick out
links
to special offers.

The quick navigation keys no longer work either and I get an error
message from JFW to this effect. This would seem to suggest that it is a
known issue to Freedom Scientific.

If I activate a link to display these messages in a browser then I can
read and navigate them fine in Internet Explorer 7.

It is very frustrating. Does anyone share this problem or know why this
should be?
