Adrian, as I have stated before I am not in favor of adding JFW to the subject line. However there is a way of adding it with out interfering with the use in most other situations.
See the following.[JFW] this would be the entry that you would stop speaking via the dictionary entry.
this would allow JFW to still be spoken. Max. -------- Original Message -------- Subject: Re: Message to JFW mods From: Adrian Spratt <Adrian@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Wednesday, 23 December 2009 16:17:09
Dave, Here, we find ourselves on opposite sides. To inform the JAWS dictionary to remove JFW would be to have it not speak those three letters in other contexts where we might want it. Let me add that James would probably prefer listers carry on this debate through him and off-list. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Dave Carlson" <dgcarlson@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, December 23, 2009 12:02 AM Well, Max, the dictionary manager is a very easy and powerful tool, and I'm surprised that anyone objects to using it. I know that we can add a dictionary entry to stop hearing it. However as I don't import my settings from v 10 - 11 etc I must go in and re do all the dictionary entries. I really hate doing that. I find it extremely irritating to have to listen to strings like that just to hear the subject of an email. It drives me nuts. Just my 2 cents. *From:* Glen Jan <mailto:glenjan42@xxxxxxxxxxx> *Sent:* Tuesday, December 22, 2009 8:13 PM *To:* jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx <mailto:jfw@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> *Subject:* Message to JFW mods Hello James, First of all, thanks for the great job of moderating the list. I wonder if it's possible to add JFW or similar as a prefix to the subject line of messages to enable grouping etc. This would make email reading much easier for those of us who have lots of emails to get through each day. Compliments of the season to you all. Let's try to restrict our posting to things that are actually considered on-topic for the list, please. This seems to be a biweekly reminder to folks on the list, and I don't really think it should need to be.
